Japanese Wallpaper Supply & Installation Workflow

Whether Japanese wallpaper looks right in the end is not just a matter of installation. It depends even more on whether the full Japan-sourced system is maintained. In our work, the wallpaper, wallpaper adhesive, installation tools and machines are all made in Japan.

Specific arrangements may vary by city, wall condition and area, but the core steps stay largely the same.

01 Consultation & selection

Confirm the space and design direction first

Using photos, plans or site conditions, we assess how the space will be used, what the wall condition is like and which visual direction makes sense, then recommend the right Sangetsu wallpaper range.

02 Measuring & quotation

Clarify scope and cost

We measure wall areas, openings and key detail locations, note substrate issues, then organise a clear quotation structure for materials and labour.

03 Substrate preparation

Prepare the base before talking about the finish

As needed, we repair, sand and prime the surface so the wall is dry, stable and flat. This step has the biggest impact on the final result.

04 Cutting & adhesive application

Pre-cut by pattern and wall height

We pre-cut according to the pattern, wall height and join logic, then use a compatible adhesive system to control open time and seam cleanliness.

05 Hanging & finishing

Seams, corners and finishing details

We pay close attention to pattern alignment, seam stability, switch positions, internal and external corners, and finishing edges so the whole space reads cleaner and more consistent.

06 Inspection & handover

Confirm completion quality and future maintenance

After completion, we check flatness, seams and pattern alignment, then explain cleaning, maintenance and how future local repairs can be handled.

The three things that really affect the result

  • Substrate flatness: the more stable the wall, the cleaner the final finish.
  • Seam handling: whether it looks refined often comes down to seams and finishing edges.
  • Material compatibility: Sangetsu wallpaper, the Japanese adhesive system, installation tools and machines all need to match as one system.
